St. Christopher Appears In London, (Security Forces Investigate...)
1992, 23 x 17 cm

This picture has been reproduced quite a bit, including as a full page in Creative Camera and as the cover of a London listings mag. I've always really liked it for its fun- the 40ft. high St. Christopher striding up the Thames, it's so pleasing to make such a thing from scraps of paper.

On the bridge you can see a line of RUC Landrovers, this was a photo snatched in the street in Newry in the early '90's, with a pocket camera. (I'd sold my good camera, as a few times before, and anyway a pocket camera drew much less attention. I often use an Olympus Mju now, the lens is great and I know other artists do too.)

The circumstance was driving into town and finding the street blocked, to prevent the Republican march, the police have a technique of parking their jeeps corner-to-corner so that only single people can squeeze past, as they desire.

A pleasing aspect that you probably can't see in the web image is that the blend with the postcard is so neat that it's hard to tell which elements came from where.
