I'm not really sure how this picture happened, except that I had the original postcard for some time, and it immediately presented possibilities, not least in the binocular vision aspect, which refers to the super-high surveillance of that area of the border I come from.

The black-and-white pic is of the border post outside Newry. I liked that on the tiny posters on the bus are ads for suitably warlike John Wayne videos: "Big John is Big Jake".

Another thing I experimented with was replacing the London shield in the corner with a blue sky, and transposing London to Lod-non, a probably not very successful echo of the spiritual/materialistic contrast.
