They were largely taken on a small number of specific occasions or expeditions if you like, over the period.

These were:
in Derry at a Hunger-Striker's funeral: (115 - 139), and the ensuing rioting: (000 - 057).
In Newry, at a 'H-Blocks' march: (058 - 083) & (184 - 186), at a (Republican) Easter parade: (217 - 236), at an Orange march: (084-114) & (237 - 254), at a 'Corpus Christi' procession: (192 - 216), and at a 'Mass Rock' outside Newry: (140 - 172).
In Belfast at a 'Twelfth' parade: (255 - 271), and on a few other happenstances.

My original intention must have been a sort of documentary project in a fine-art context, but as the photomontage took over, I moved more to making the photos with the requirements of montage in mind.
