about
these photographs:
They were largely
taken on a small number of specific occasions or expeditions if you like,
over the period.
These were:
in Derry at a Hunger-Striker's funeral: (115 - 139), and the ensuing rioting:
(000 - 057).
In Newry, at a 'H-Blocks' march: (058 - 083) & (184 - 186), at a (Republican)
Easter parade: (217 - 236), at an Orange march: (084-114) & (237 -
254), at a 'Corpus Christi' procession: (192 - 216), and at a 'Mass Rock'
outside Newry: (140 - 172).
In Belfast at a 'Twelfth' parade: (255 - 271), and on a few other happenstances.
My original intention
must have been a sort of documentary project in a fine-art context, but
as the photomontage took over, I moved more to making the photos with
the requirements of montage in mind.
